I've been a bit distracted lately – you could even say scatter-brained. I've chalked it up to having a lot on my mind. But yesterday I brought "distracted" to a whole new level.
I have a pair of shoes that I keep at the office, and I normally wear my sneakers to work, and then change into my work shoes. Occasionally I forget to change shoes before I head home – nothing strange there, I'm sure lots of people do that. Yesterday I left the office, got home, took my shoes off, and went on with my evening. At bedtime, when it was time to take the dog out for a walk, I went to the door to put on my shoes, and found this:
I wonder how many people on the bus noticed. I sure didn't.
Thanks for all of the nice comments on my new scarf. To answer a question that was asked, this is my own pattern. I used the same cast-on as in the Swallowtail Shawl, which gives you 7 stitches with which to start, but in a way that blends in nicely with the finished edge. I used the Spider Stitch pattern from Barbara Walker's Treasury (the first one I think – I don't have the book here so I can't confirm that), with two knit stitches at each edge, and 4 yo increases on each right-side row (one on each side of the centre stitch and one on each edge), until I figured I wouldn't have enough yarn left to do another repeat. I was going to do a nice edging, but after trying a couple, and not liking them, I ended by doing a row of eyelets, followed by 3 knit rows, twice. I then did a stretchy bind-off.
I may have had enough to do another repeat after all. But since I didn't have a digital scale, I couldn't weigh my remaining yarn accurately enough to know for sure. That won't happen next time, since I now own this:
Three posts in three days. I need to get some new stuff on the needles really soon.

Well, it’s better than walking around with your skirt tucked into your pantyhose, right?
Silver linings. Gotta love’em.
funny you didn’t hear the difference in the footsteps. I was looking at the yardage meter but I like the scale too
Oh my goodness the shoe thing is classic. so funny!
That is distracted!!! I have to agree with Lissa though – it could have been so so much worse! This way you just look a bit eccentric.
“I just didn’t know which to wear – so I mixed things up a little”
I’ve totally done the same thing (except it was when I was leaving for work, with 2 similar pairs of shoes EXCEPT for the 2″ difference in heel height) -didn’t notice until I tried to walk around the office. Glad to know that I’m not alone;)
Okay, I laughed out loud at the shoes!
When I told the story to my hubby, he said “I can see myself doing that!”
